It’s Tuesday! Hope you all had a lovely weekend! I’m enjoying a bit of a break this week from teaching, and getting out from under a rough week. But one thing that has me excited is my upcoming style event with LOFT (I really love helping women discover new styles and ways to feel their best!) and all the beautiful colors that are starting to show for the spring season.
Nothing says spring more than a great light jacket to transition you into summer! (Yes, I’m already thinking beach and sand!) I fell in love with this military jacket recently because of its structure and soft texture. The material is warm enough to carry you into the cool spring evenings! Finding unique pieces that speak to you can be a challenge, but when you know what you are drawn to over and over again, it becomes your signature – your ehem…season’s gold, if you will. I find that I am enjoying more structure in my clothing and gravitating towards pieces that are me in that way. ( You know when someone says ” I saw this and I knew it was something you’d want”? Exactly!)
This jacket feels easy, and adding stripes as a neutral to any look allows you to add that pop of color however you want. It’s spring, so this green wallet-on-a-chain is my current favorite go to for now. Hope you enjoy the details!
What are some of your signature go-to wardrobe pieces? I’d love to be inspired by you!
Happy Spring Sunday! I’ve been looking back at what one year has taught me, and I decided to share some of my favorite early spring posts that made my year such a joy. Today’s post is also a celebration of being featured on Independent Fashion Bloggers again for my anniversary post. Thank you so much for your love and kind words on that post (here), and your continued support! I hope you enjoy your first Sunday in spring and all that this new season will bring!
Happy Wednesday! Hope you are well and readjusted to the lost hour this week. It’s really hit me and makes today feel like it took forever to get here! But on the bright side of things, it’s nice that the weather is starting to show us signs of the spring to come. There’s something about spring that rejuvenates me. I feel lighter on my feet, happy to feel the sun more and go out to explore beautiful places, and wear lighter colors!
Our family recently took a weekend trip to Philadelphia, and outside of New York City, it is one of my favorite cities to visit! There’s something old, classic and vibrant about Philadelphia that we enjoy. I was excited to do a shoot by the Franklin Institute, where the architecture of massive columns and aged stairs made for the perfect backdrop to my outfit. If you’d love to learn more about their current Science of Pixar exhibit and all things currently happening there, sign up for my newslett (right here!) where I’ll be sharing an exclusive inside look at what we experienced! We were so excited to be one of the first people to experience it all!
As for fashion, I’m starting to enjoy the architecture and structure of clothing more than before. I think I always have, but now I pay much more attention to the finer details. And it’s fascinating when you do, because you start to truly discover what works for you and makes you feel good when you get dressed. Structured blazers, classic lines and architectural shapes have become a new favorite way for me to explore my choices when looking to share looks with you. I’m currently loving this white blazer so much! It comes in other colors at LOFT and I might just get them all! And if you’re in the local NJ/NYC area on April 1s,t I’d love for you to join me at my first Style Event with LOFT! You can RSVP here! Feel free to bring your gal pals along! Hope you enjoy!
We made it! Today is This Season’s Gold’s first anniversary! (See where it all started) There are so many emotions that come from celebrating this milestone today. While I have just come off of a whirlwind season of directing the musical Spring Awakening at my school, I very much feel that making it through the first year of sharing this space has been an awakening of its own. I have found what it means to be strong in the face of adversity, resilient in the midst of deep sorrow, and supportive of others when I myself struggled to stand. Fashion became the vehicle that helped me come out of my own darkness and set my sights on something much bigger than what I already had in my life. It led me to meet many of my readers, through the web or even in person, and I am grateful for having created this space to make that possible.
I’ve decided that this space deserves so much more than what I already have done with it. My ideas are so big (and I am known not to do things small), so I cannot wait to create and build different ways to share fashion and style inspiration, my family stories (lifestyle!) and all of my travels with you.
I want to thank you for making this such a special space for me, and helping This Season’s Gold grow over this past year. I feel blessed and very lucky to have this platform to inspire you!
It’s Tuesday, which means one day closer to the weekend! (It’s never too early!) I’m gearing up to share some fun and sunny posts from my recent trip to Florida, but being back home and still in cool weather, has me excited about styling camel and stripes because I’m enjoying wearing my blazer and long wool vest these days. I love how natural and chic the combination looks no matter the color of the stripes. Since my teens, I had an obsession with anything striped in any color or combination (See what I mean? And here, and here!). As a result, I’m sharing two looks today and some great pieces that would go perfect together to recreate the camel and stripes look for yourself. Hope you enjoy!
I loved playing with the idea of making this coat vest into a dress. While I definitely needed to wear something underneath to keep warm (biker shorts!), I originally bought this vest a bit larger than usual and liked the idea of cinching it up into a dress with a belt that closed with belt that had no loops. It kept the look slim when I already knew I had some bulk to contend with due to the thickness of the coat (which kept me warm too!) Playing with a heavier layer, the stripes and open sandals kept the look light (I took advantage of an oddly warmer winter day to pull this off!).
I have been living in this double breasted blazer for more than I’d like to admit this winter. I found it on sale at Banana Republic, and it was the last one in store! I absolutely love it. Popping up the color to show the grey inset is my favorite part. Red stripes, red lips and red bottoms made this a perfect dress down Friday look to go from work to a night out with your girls.
